'Extreme Cold Warning' In Effect: MN Weather
"Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside," the National Weather Service warned.

TWIN CITIES, MN — An extreme cold warning is in effect from midnight Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday for McLeod, Meeker, Renville, Sherburne, Sibley, Wright, Carver, Isanti, Kanabec, Brown, Nicollet, Redwood, and Yellow Medicine counties, with wind chills expected to drop as low as 35 below zero.
A separate extreme cold watch is in place for late Monday night through Tuesday morning, when wind chills could reach 40 below zero in those counties, according to the National Weather Service.
Meanwhile, a cold weather advisory is in effect Monday for Chisago, Hennepin, Anoka, Ramsey, Washington, Scott, Dakota, Rice, Goodhue, Steele, Martin, Faribault and Freeborn counties in Minnesota, as well as Polk, Barron, Rusk, St. Croix, Pierce, Dunn, Pepin, Chippewa and Eau Claire counties in Wisconsin, with wind chills as low as 32 below zero.

"Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside," the NWS said. "Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves."
Frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes in these conditions.
