Gas Falls Below $4 In Minnesota, Down To $3.31 In Hastings

The national average is currently sitting at $4.03, and the statewide average is even lower.

TWIN CITIES, MN — The price for a gallon of gas has finally fallen below $4 for most of Minnesota.

As of Tuesday, the statewide average is $3.95, according to AAA.

Most places in the Twin Cities metro are still closer to $4 a gallon, but some of the cheapest gas in the state can be found in the Hastings area. The Hastings Speedway is selling gas for $3.31 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.

The national average is currently sitting at $4.03.

"Despite steadily falling gas prices during the peak of the summer driving season, fewer drivers fueled up last week," AAA said in a news release on Monday.

"It’s another sign that, for now, Americans are changing their driving habits to cope with higher pump prices. Meanwhile, the cost of oil has edged lower on fears of economic slowdowns elsewhere around the globe."

Minnesota's gas prices are down from $4.62 a month ago. A year ago, gas was just above $3 a gallon.
