1. Gov. Tim Walz signed a historic safety bill into law Friday, establishing universal background checks and red flag laws in the state. “This is not about the Second Amendment, this is about the safety of our children and our community," he said. (KARE11)

2. City Council candidate Nasri Warsame was banned from seeking Democratic-Farmer-Labor party endorsement this week, BMTN reports. One of his supporters rushed the stage at a convention last week, leading to a “chaotic brawl.” (BMTN)
3. A portion of northbound I-35W is closed this weekend for resurfacing. The area between Interstate 494 in Bloomington and Interstate 35E in Burnsville will be closed through Monday morning. (KARE11)
