Karl Towns 'Stunned' After Timberwolves Trade Him To Knicks: Report

The Minnesota Timberwolves are trading away Karl-Anthony Towns after nine years. They drafted him No. 1 overall in 2015.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves are trading away veteran All-Star center and power forward Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks, according to multiple reports.

In return, Minnesota will receive Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.

The Timberwolves will receive also 2025 top-13-protected first-round pick, ESPN reported.

Towns, 28, did not request a trade, and never had in his nine years with the team, according to The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski. Towns was "stunned" by the trade, reports Krawczynski.

Towns posted "..." on X after the trade was reported.

The trade comes mere months after Towns and teammates Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert took Minnesota to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2004.

Minnesota selected Towns No. 1 overall in the 2015 NBA draft. He is a four-time All-Star and a two-time All-NBA selection.

Last season, Towns averaged 21.8 points and 8.3 rebounds, while shooting 50% from the field and 41.6% from 3-point range.
