Many Twin Cities Swimming Pools, Splash Pads Set For Summer 2024

MINNEAPOLIS — Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer and many public pools in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area will open. Many pools will open for the season starting this weekend.

Here's a look at some of the major pool openings across the Twin Cities metro area:

• Minneapolis Jim Lupient Water Park: June 15 – Aug. 8
• Minneapolis North Commons Water Park: June 15 – Aug. 8
• St. Paul May 25 - Sept. 2
• Eagan's Cascade Bay: June 7 through Aug. 25
• Hastings Family Aquatic Center: June 7 through Aug. 25
• Valley Fair Soak City Waterpark: May 25 - Sept. 2
• Lake Minnetonka Swim Pond: May 25
• Bunker Beach Water Park: June 8 - Aug. 25
• Maple Grove Community Pool: May 27
• Maple Grove Elm Creek Swim Pond: May 25

Unfortunately for pool-goers, the weather for Memorial Day weekend in Minnesota may be a bit cold for an outdoor splash. But we'll leave that up to you.

Here's the specific NWS forecast from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport:

Friday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 3pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 3pm and 4pm, then a chance of showers after 4pm. High near 70. East southeast wind around 15 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: A slight chance of showers before 7pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 7pm and 10pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 48. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 71. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east after midnight.

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 68. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
