Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board : Masks Now Required At All MPRB Indoor Spaces

Effective Wednesday, August 4 at 5 pm, face coverings will be required indoors at all Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) buildings. This includes, but is not limited to, recreation centers, ice arenas, golf course clubhouses, The Trailhead, and all indoor spaces at water parks and the Webber Natural Swimming Pool.

This also includes the Mary Merrill Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Headquarters, which, starting today, will be open to the public during Board meetings. Today’s August 4 board meeting begins at 5 pm and is the MPRB’s first in-person board meeting since November 2020. All visitors, open-time speakers, presenters, MPRB staff and commissioners attending tonight’s in person board meeting will be required to wear a mask. As board meetings are again in-person, there is no longer an option for call-in participation. However, board meetings may be viewed remotely, as they have in the past.

This adjustment is in response to Tuesday’s announcement by City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County officials that masks are required inside government buildings due to the Delta variant,Recent CDC guidance recommends fully vaccinated people wear masks indoors in areas of substantial or high cases of transmission. As of Friday, July 30, Minneapolis has been in the substantial transmission category. The MPRB will continue to monitor transmission data and follow MDH and CDC guidelines. In the meantime, effective 5 pm Wednesday, August 4, the following MPRB requirements are in place:

• Masks or face coverings are required for all vaccinated and unvaccinated staff and/or patrons (age two and older) indoors in any shared common spaces of an MPRB building. Paper masks will be provided for those who do not have their own.
• Masks or face coverings are required for unvaccinated employees working outside when they are unable to social distance.
