The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) offers great opportunities for youth to play organized sports this winter! Registration just opened for basketball, hockey, gymnastics and wrestling programs and leagues across the city.

Basketball
Boys and girls are welcome to join the MPRB Citywide Youth Basketball program.

League Information
January-March, Ages 8-18
All teams are guaranteed eight regular season games officiated by MPRB referees.
Divisions
11U: Open and Girls
12U: Open
13U: Open and Girls
14U: Open
16U: Open and Girls
18U: Open and Girls
Hockey
MPRB Youth Hockey is geared toward recreational or beginning level play and emphasizes having fun while learning the fundamentals of hockey. Leagues teach kids to skate, the rules of hockey and importance of teamwork.
League Information
January-February, Ages 6-15
All teams are guaranteed seven regular season games. Games are scheduled at several locations throughout Minneapolis.

Squirts: Boys and Girls K-4th Grade
11U: Open
13U: Open
15U: Open
18U: Open
Penguins: Girls Grades 3-6
Polar Bears: Girls Grade 7-9
Gymnastics
MPRB Youth Gymnastics programs are available for beginners or more experienced gymnasts.
League Information
March-May, Ages 9-14, 8-year-olds may be waived up
There are four regular season meets and a Citywide Meet at the end of the regular season. Meets are scheduled at North Star School Gym, 2410 Girard Ave. N (Door 10).
Wrestling
MPRB Youth Wrestling is organized for boys and girls. The sport encourages positive attitudes, builds self-discipline and teaches leadership qualities. It’s an opportunity to develop physical strength, technique, coordination, balance and agility while building new friendships.
League Information
January-March, Ages 6-13, Children turning 14 on or after Sept. 1, may participate
There are eight regular season matches and a Citywide Tournament at the end of the regular season. Meets are scheduled at several locations across the city.

Recreation Fee Assistance
Minneapolis residents who cannot afford instructional fees because of economic need may apply for fee assistance through the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Fee Assistance Program.
