Minnesota Star Tribune closes Minneapolis printing plant as staff reflect on the end of an era (startribune.com) — Minneapolis readers are seeing a major shift as the Star Tribune shuts down its longtime Heritage Center printing plant in the North Loop, with the final papers rolling off the presses Dec. 28. About 125 jobs are being cut as printing moves to Des Moines, while the paper doubles down on digital and keeps seven-day home delivery going.

Minneapolis shooting: Man critically injured on Chicago Ave (fox9.com) — A man is in critical condition after being shot late Saturday morning on the 2900 block of Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis, and police say no arrests have been made yet. Investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting and have not released any suspect information. Residents may notice an ongoing police presence in the area as the case develops.

As demand rises, halal food options shrink at Minnesota food shelves (startribune.com) — Families relying on the Brian Coyle Center food shelf in Minneapolis are seeing rising demand just as halal food options shrink and federal food support fluctuates. Local organizers say immigrant communities, especially Somali Minnesotans, are squeezed by higher costs and limited culturally appropriate food, with some halal distribution sites in the Twin Cities already forced to close.
   

4. Wild embrace the challenge of two weeks on the road (twincities.com) — With St. Paul and Minneapolis hosting the World Junior hockey championships, the Wild have handed over their home rink and embarked on a rare two‑week, seven‑game road trip. Coach John Hynes says the team hopes to turn the disruptive stretch into a bonding opportunity after a strong November and December start.

Serial entrepreneur and 2nd Wind founder Dick Enrico dies at 85 (startribune.com) — Minnesotans are remembering serial entrepreneur and 2nd Wind founder Dick Enrico, who built a retail empire that included early cookware sales and several ventures launched after he moved to Minneapolis. From cookware crews of college kids to restaurants and specialty shops near Nicollet Avenue, his career helped shape local retail culture before his death this month at 85.
