MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A gunman killed two people and injured 17 others after opening fire with a rifle through the windows of Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Wednesday.

According to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara, the shooter came armed with not only a rifle, but also a shotgun and pistol, as he approached the side of the church and shot dozens of rounds through the windows toward the pews where schoolchildren sat to attend Mass. Authorities also believe the gunman killed himself after.

“This was a deliberate act of violence against innocent children and other people worshipping. The sheer cruelty and cowardice of firing into a church full of children is absolutely incomprehensible," said O'Hara. As per AP, authorities also said they found a smoke bomb but no explosives at the scene.
