The latest edition of the Best Global Universities includes schools from more than 100 countries.
MINNESOTA — One university in Minnesota is among the best in the world, according to a new ranking Tuesday from U.S. News & World Report.
The latest edition of the Best Global Universities includes schools from more than 100 countries. China topped the list with 397, followed by the United States with 280, India with 118, Japan with 104 and the United Kingdom with 93.
More than 2,250 schools were evaluated on academic research and reputation across 51 subject areas.

In Minnesota, the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in Minneapolis tied for 72nd on the list with the University of Wisconsin Madison in Madison.

“The Best Global Universities rankings provide valuable benchmarks for students considering international study options or seeking institutions with a strong global research impact,” LaMont Jones, managing editor for Education at U.S. News, said in a news release.
The rankings help students identify universities with worldwide recognition and cross-border academic excellence that can serve as a launching pad for their careers, Jones added.
