The award-winning craft distillery, Tattersall Distilling, designed to be one of the most sustainable in the nation, opened its newest location in River Falls, Wisconsin at 1777 Paulson Road, on Wednesday, December 1. The Minnesota based company, Impact Power Solutions (IPS), proudly supplied the solar power for this highly anticipated destination spot.

Tattersall’s core value of sustainability aligns well with the River Fall’s city campaign, Renewable River Falls, which encourages and supports residents and businesses in going 100% renewable. For instance, the company’s water reclamation system recycles all production water, repurposing it into future distillations. Surplus spent grain is given to a local cattle and bison farmer, who feeds it to livestock that end up on Tattersall’s menu. Greens for the restaurant and herbs for cocktails are all grown hydroponically at the distillery as well.

Jon Kreidler, Founder, and Chief Officer of Tattersall Distilling expressed positive remarks regarding the River Falls project as a great fit for the company in more ways than one, calling the new facility, “a perfect complement to what we created in Minneapolis and this is the logical next step in our evolution as a company. It allows us to really scale our production and accommodate more guests than ever, while putting a huge focus on sustainability.”

Tattersall’s 405 kW rooftop solar array is now the largest solar array of any craft distillery in the nation. Consisting of 1,080 panels and producing a yearly average of 477,900 kWh of electricity, the solar array is projected to offset the energy production of Tattersall’s entire distilling operation. This amounts to offsetting 373 tons of CO2 — the same amount sequestered by 415 acres of forest.

Impact Power Solutions is no stranger to large scale projects. For over 30 years, they have worked to deliver organizations solutions ranging from rooftop installations to multi-megawatt community solar gardens.

Krisy Wogen, Solar Energy Developer at Impact Power Solutions, was enthusiastic about the project’s completion stating, “It has been very exciting to work with Tattersall and see this project come to fruition. Their excitement for solar and overall focus on sustainability compliments their delicious spirits perfectly. It makes me want to support the Tattersall brand even more than I already do. I am looking forward to trying all of their solar powered spirits in their beautiful new distillery!”
