KSTP Traffic Reporter Leaving Station After Four Years (patch.com) — Morning viewers in Minneapolis will soon see a new face handling rush-hour traffic, as longtime KSTP-TV reporter Hanna Conway is leaving the station after four years on 5 Eyewitness News mornings. The Minneapolis native, who returned home in 2021 after working in Colorado, says she’s grateful for the community and will share details about her next chapter soon.
   

2. Murder charges filed against teen also linked to Metro Transit bus shooting (kare11.com) — Minneapolis residents are learning more about a 17-year-old now charged in a deadly north Minneapolis shooting and a separate Metro Transit bus attack that injured three people. Prosecutors in Hennepin County are seeking to move the Brooklyn Park teen’s case to adult court, citing matching ballistics evidence, witness accounts, and his existing extended juvenile probation.
   

3. Melanie Rucker promoted to interim Minneapolis fire chief (kstp.com) — Minneapolis residents will see Assistant Fire Chief Melanie Rucker step in as interim fire chief when Bryan Tyner retires at year’s end, making her the first Black woman to lead the department. City leaders praise her steady leadership as a national search begins for a permanent chief, while Rucker pledges to prioritize public safety, prevention, and strong community relationships.
   

4. What's open and closed on New Year's Day 2026 (startribune.com) — If you’re planning New Year’s Day around Minneapolis, most major grocery and liquor stores will be open, and Metro Transit will run on a holiday schedule. The Minneapolis Institute of Art will welcome visitors, but libraries and several other museums, including the Walker and Mill City Museum, will be closed. Suburban transit services will be limited or not running at all.
   

5. Judge sets how much Feeding Our Future executive director must pay back (kare11.com) — A Minneapolis judge has ordered former Feeding Our Future executive director Aimee Bock to repay more than $5.2 million tied to the pandemic meal-fraud scheme. The ruling covers seized cash, a Porsche, and valuables from the group’s office and her Rosemount home. Another defendant has already been ordered to repay nearly $48 million for falsely claiming to serve millions of meals.
