1. Former Brooklyn Park police chief named head of U's police force (startribune.com) — A former Minneapolis police officer and Brooklyn Park police chief, Michael A. Davis, has been hired to lead the University of Minnesota’s Department of Public Safety. Returning from Northeastern University in Boston, he’ll take over in January, with university leaders emphasizing collaboration and stronger campus and community safety.
   

2. That time a bunch of radical artists got under the hood at Mia (minnpost.com) — Minneapolis art lovers can trace a half-century of artist-led innovation at Mia’s Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program, which began as a radical experiment in the 1970s. The story highlights how downtown Minneapolis galleries, feminist collectives, and today’s MAEP shows at Mia and MCAD continue to give local artists power over what gets seen and celebrated.
   

3. Braun Hits 1,000 Points in 82-44 Win Over Alabama A&M - University of Minnesota Athletics (gophersports.com) — In Minneapolis at Williams Arena, the Gophers women’s basketball team routed Alabama A&M 82–44, with Mara Braun becoming the 29th Gopher to reach 1,000 career points. Four Minnesota players scored in double figures as the team dominated from three-point range, shared the ball effectively, and controlled the game after a tight first quarter.
   

4. Farm Aid Distributes Over $1.3 Million in Grants (newsdakota.com) — Minneapolis recently hosted Farm Aid’s 40th anniversary music and food festival, and proceeds from that event are helping fund more than $1.3 million in grants to support family farmers nationwide. The organization says these year-end grants will bolster family farm, rural response, and urban agriculture groups during another challenging period for agriculture.
