Snow Possible For Cities North of Metro: MN Weather

MINNESOTA — Less than 48 hours after temperatures hit 80 degrees, light and wet snow could be on the ground in parts of Minnesota.

"After the much above normal temperatures, rain [is] expected midweek with a chance for thunderstorms at the start and snow mixing in on the back end," the National Weather Service forecast discussion states.

Minnesotans hoping for a repeat of the 1991 Halloween blizzard shouldn't get their hopes up. But it will be chilly trick-or-treating weather.

The dramatic plunge from 80 degrees to near-freezing might seem unbelievable—but then again, this is Minnesota.
And the good news is there should be plenty of precipitation — be it rain or snow — for our drought-stricken state.
Here's the full NWS forecast from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport:
Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Southeast wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Tuesday Night: A slight chance of showers between 3am and 4am, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 1pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 1pm and 4pm, then showers likely after 4pm. Cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 56 by 5pm. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Wednesday Night: Showers. Low around 39. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Thursday: Showers, mainly before 1pm. Steady temperature around 41. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Thursday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers before 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 32. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light west after midnight.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 52. Light south wind becoming south southeast 10 to 15 mph in the morning.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 40. South southeast wind around 15 mph.
Saturday: A 40 percent chance of showers after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. South wind 10 to 15 mph.
Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
