Here are the top four stories in Minneapolis today:
- A higher minimum wage is coming to Minneapolis starting Jul. 1. Minimum wage will be $13.50 at businesses with under 100 employees and $15 at businesses with over 100 employees. The minimum wage at small businesses will continue to increase each year until it also reaches $15. (CBS Minnesota)
- CEOs from ten health care systems pledge to combat gun violence. According to Minneapolisā Crime Dashboard, 147 people had been shot in the city as of Apr. 27, 2022, while 129 had been shot by the same date in 2021. Hospital response teams are expecting an increase in gunshot victims as temperatures rise. (KSTP)
- The Minneapolis Fire Department contains an early Wednesday morning fire at popular restaurant Bar La Grassa. The department reports that no one was injured and the fire did not spread beyond the stove. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated. (CBS Minnesota)
- CenterPoint Energy is testing 'green' hydrogen at its downtown Minneapolis plant. The project could save 1,200 tons of carbon emissions, but it will also use two gallons of water every minute. Facing a variety of difficulties and restrictions, the project aims to be a test run of this new technology. (Bring Me The News)
