Where The Twin Cities Rank On New Best Drivers Report

This year's Allstate America's Best Drivers Report determined how likely drivers in America's 200 most populous cities are to be in a crash.

MINNESOTA — Minneapolis and St. Paul are both among the most risky towns in the United States for drivers, according to a new report released by insurance company Allstate.

First launched in 2005, this year's Allstate America's Best Drivers Report determined the likelihood that drivers in America's 200 most populous cities will experience a car collision compared to the national average.

The report was compiled using property and collision damage claims reported from January 2022 to December 2023.

In this year's report, St. Paul ranked as the 29th riskiest city for drivers, while Minneapolis came in at No. 41. According to the report, St. Paul drivers are 44 percent more likely to be in a car collision than the national average.

"No matter where you drive, the best way to protect yourself and others is simple: buckle up, stay focused and slow down," said Sandee Lindorfer, vice president of auto claims at Allstate. "These are three of the most effective ways to prevent crashes, and they cost nothing but attention."

Boston earned the top spot as the riskiest city for drivers, followed by Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. Brownsville, Texas, was ranked the safest city for drivers, followed by Boise, Idaho, and Fort Collins, Colorado.
