Minnesota Connections Academy Recognizes Minnetonka Student

Talon Woodson, of Minnetonka, was recently named one of Minnesota Connections Academy’s (MNCA) Students of the Month in recognition of his outstanding achievements and leadership in the virtual classroom.

Talon, a sixth grader at the public online school, was nominated by his teacher, Mrs. Brynestad, in recognition of his hard work and the outstanding attitude he brings to the classroom each day. As a Student of the Month, Talon will receive a certificate of achievement and be profiled in the Minnesota Connections Academy student newsletter and the school’s social media platforms.

“Our students of the month demonstrate leadership and an extraordinary commitment to learning while serving as strong role models for their peers,” said Brad Swanson, School Leader at Minnesota Connections Academy. “The members of our faculty and staff are proud to give these virtual classroom leaders the recognition they deserve.”

Talon came to Minnesota Connections Academy last year because his parents wanted a better distance learning option for Talon. Once he started at Minnesota Connections Academy, they appreciated the support from the teachers as well as the consistency and the uniformity of the lessons.

“The teachers are so helpful and creative in supporting the growth mindset,” said Talon’s grandmother and Learning Coach Kathy Skadsberg. “Talon has grown so much in Math since joining last year. He has gained a lot of self confidence in all his classes.”
