MINNETONKA, MN — Last week's snow may not have been enough to trigger a snow emergency in Minnetonka, it did provide a good reminder that winter is coming. And with that, it's a good time to review the city's winter parking rules.

City-wide snowplowing operations will begin when 2 or more inches of snowfall in Minnetonka. Plowing takes place between 2 and 4 a.m.

The city’s goal is to clear city-owned streets and cul-de-sacs within nine hours of the snow event.

Minnetonka enforces these parking restrictions year-round:

  • No parking on any city street from 2 – 6 a.m.
  • Vehicles may not be parked on the street for more than six hours.

During a snow emergency, "no vehicles can remain on a street in a manner that interferes with snow removal operations" in Minnetonka.

Hennepin County will plow county roads and the state Department of Transportation will plow the interstate highways. Private roads and parking lots must be cleared by property owners.
