
Betty Mary Henningsen Pfister was born October 24, 1921, in Decorah, Iowa, to M.C. and Otillie Henningsen. She was baptized and confirmed at Decorah Lutheran Church and graduated from Decorah High School in 1939. Following her education she worked at the Ben Franklin in Decorah. She married Norman C. Pfister on August 10, 1940, at Decorah Lutheran. After marriage they lived in Calmer and Fenton until moving to Iowa City. In 1952, they returned to Decorah and Betty worked part-time at Luther College for several years. In Decorah, they were charter members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. In 1979, Betty and Norman moved to Albert Lea. Norman passed away in 1989 and Betty moved to Northfield in 1994.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Rod Ellickson of Burnsville, Sally and John Hintze of Wes Des Moines, Iowa; 5 grandchildren: Beth Ellickson and husband Robert Holmes of Glendale, Arizona, Mindy and husband Robert Williams of Peoria, Arizona, Sarah Sanftner and husband Todd of West Des Moines, Nathan Hintze and wife Kacey of Brunswick, Maine, Drew Hintze and fiancee Meredith Goldin of Denver, Colorado; 6 great-grandchildren: Korey, Konner, Will, Grace, Greta and Berg; her sister, Edith Stoddard of Beloit, Wisconsin; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister Ellen Gray.
Betty passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 3, 2012, at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield, at the age of 90.

Funeral services will be 10AM Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield with Rev. Janet White officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Albert Lea. Visitation will be the funeral home on Wednesday one hour prior to the funeral.
Memorials are preferred to Three Links Care Center Pathways Unit.
