Kathleen S. Pleschourt was born July 5, 1942 to Sylvester and Loretta (Sartor) Kane at St. Lucas Hospital in Faribault, MN. She was the first of 8 children. The family lived on a farm in rural Medford and she attended school in Medford and Faribault. During high school she developed a special interest for art and music and enjoyed being a part of the marching band.

While working at Nelson's Supermarket in Faribault, she met Darrell Pleschourt and they were married on December 14, 1962. They lived in Nerstrand, MN where she provided in-home daycare service for 3-4 years until they moved to the family dairy farm in rural Cannon City in 1974. While on the farm Kathleen worked as a wife and mother for 10 years until she obtained her nurses aide certification in 1984. This certification opened the door to her true calling as a caregiver for the elderly. She began working at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield in 1984 and continued in that capacity until she retired in 2008. During her 24 years at Three Links Care Center she worked as both a Nurses Aide and Activities Assistant. She particularly enjoyed the activities role where she played the organ and other musical instruments at events and church services, had the residents help her with canning and crafts, brought the residents to her cabin on Lake Mazaska, and brought her dog "Hooker" to work. In 1998 she was recognized as the Minnesota Caregiver of the Year.
