
Kathryn Lynn Mahoney was born November 6, 1947, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Robert J. and Patricia (Truax) Mahoney. She was raised in Minneapolis, graduated from Washburn High School in 1965, and in 1969, received her degree as a Medical Recorders Librarian from the College of St. Scholasicta in Duluth. In 1971, she moved to Rochester and worked for the Olmsted Community Hospital. She returned to Minneapolis in 1973 and began her long association with Abbott-Northwestern Hospital. She moved to Chaska in 2005, and was currently still working at Abbott.
Kathryn enjoyed writing and always aspired to become a writer. Family was her focus and she was lovingly known as the “family historian.” She was kind, considerate, thoughtful, and a wonderful daughter, sister and aunt.
Survivors include her father Robert of Northfield; 5 brothers and their wives: Kevin and Celia of Nashville, Tennessee, Patrick and wife Marianne of Arvada, Colorado, Dennis and wife Candice of Minneapolis, Tim of St. Paul, Mark and wife Roberta Dailey of Bloomington; 12 nieces and nephews: Vicente, Sampaguita, Kelly, Ryan, Shannon, Shaun, Tim Jr., Sarah, Lee, Molly, Mark and Jack; aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Patricia in 2006.

Kathryn passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, at the age of 64.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 19, 2012, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Shieldsville, with Fr. Kevin Finnegan officiating. Music will be provided by Sharon Kaisorhot. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Church Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Kevin, Patrick, Dennis, Tim, Mark and Vicente Mahoney. Visitation will be at the church on Monday one hour prior to the funeral.
