Pat Babcock, 71

Pat Babcock, age 71, of Faribault and formerly of Northfield, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Northfield Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 pm Thursday, October 25th at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25th beginning at 4:00pm until the hour of services.

Patricia Sandra Babcock was born July 23, 1941 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, daughter of Kenneth and Jeanne (Durand) Moore. At the age of 2 her family moved to White Bear Lake in Minnesota where she spent her childhood and attended school. During the summer of 1958 she worked at the Olympia Restaurant in Faribault where she met Harold Lemuel Babcock and they were married March 15, 1959 at the Shattuck Chapel of the Good Shepherd in Faribault.

They first lived in rural Dundas near Harold’s parent’s farm and the next 3 years in Madelia, MN. They moved back to Dundas, then north of Northfield for 3 years and in 1980 moved to their long time home on Union Lake. The last 1 ½ years were spent at their new home near Faribault. Pat was primarily a stay at home mom raising their 5 children but worked at Brockway Glass in Rosemount for 3 years in the late 1960’s following Harold’s back surgery.

As the kids got older Pat began working as a bartender at the A & M Bar in Dundas which became the L & M Bar and later at the V.F.W. She enjoyed the customers and the people she met. When the Dundas Kmart Store opened in 1990 she applied for a job and soon was the head of their electronics department for 10 years. She then worked at Bon Appetit at St. Olaf College in food service until retirement in 2003. She and Harold took many cross country vacations in their motor home, visiting every state in the U.S. including three trips to Alaska and traveled to every province in Canada. She also enjoyed flower gardening and going to casinos.

Pat is survived by her husband Harold of Faribault; daughter Tammy Babcock and husband Ron Hrdlicka of Dundas; son Chris and wife Tina of Faribault; daughter-in-law Sue Babcock of Dundas; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sons Todd, Chad, and Cory.
