City Goes Forward with $7 Million Northfield Police Facility
The city council voted to seek construction bids at its Tuesday meeting.

Northfield is going forward with plans for a new $7 million police facility that would include a 50-seat training room and an enclosed garage for sqad cars.
At its Tuesday meeting, the Northfield City Council authorized city staff to seek construction bids, though two members of the council voted against the proposal, the Northfield News reported.
Council members David Ludescher and David DeLong said they were opposed to the project. Ludescher said the lease-purchase financing was illegal, and DeLong said he thought a new building could be built for less.

“There’s a common misconception that I want to stop the project,” DeLong said, according to the Northfield News. “What I want is a reasonable project; a functional space for the police department.”
