Dee To Run For Re-Election For Soil And Water Board District 5

NORTHFIELD, MN — Jayne Hager Dee announced that she will run for re-election to remain supervisor of the Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District Board for District 5, which includes portions of Northfield, Lakeville, Farmington and Empire, Eureka, Castle Rock, Greenvale, Waterford and Sciota Townships.

Residents will vote for DCSWCD supervisors in the general election on Nov. 8.

Dee said she was first elected as a District 5 supervisor in 2016 and is now a Treasurer of and chairs the Education and Outreach Committee of the DCSWCD Board.

Before retirement in 2012, she was also the Regional Director for the Farmington Regional Office of University of Minnesota Extension, she said. Dee said she was responsible for the University Extension's operations in southern Minnesota and Dakota County.

While with the University Extension, Dee said she supervised an environmental education program, nutrition programming, Master Gardeners’ programs, agriculture/livestock educators and more.

Dee said she also served for two years as a governor-appointed member of the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources, where she represented soil and water districts.

Dee is also a member of the Northfield Housing and Redevelopment Authority, co-founder of the Northfield Affordable Housing Task Force and is a member of Northfield Rotary, she said. She was also previously a county commissioner and a school board member in Iowa, she said.
