Defeat of Jesse James Days Schedule—Sept. 7, 2013

Saturday marks the last day to check out Vaudevesque, the day of the Soap Box Derby and the Kiddie Parade.

Saturday Schedule

• Kiddie Parade 
Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. The route begins at Econo Foods on Division Street, between 6th Street and 7th Street. From there it goes north on Division to 2nd Street (by Archer House) where ice cream treats will be given out.

If you wish to participate: "Any kid (ages range from infant to 12) who is willing to dress up in a costume and have fun in a parade is welcome to participate. Only requirement is that participants wear a costume. Please note that parents who wish to push a stroller must be wearing a costume, too! 'Kids' aged 13 and up are welcome to participate by being helpers and banner bearers. Line up starts at 9 a.m."

 Bank Raid Re-Enactments
11 a.m. (ASL), 1 p.m. (ASL), 3 p.m. (ASL), and 5 p.m.

• Carnival
11 a.m. to close. At-the-door wrist bands cost $17.

• Bingo on Bridge Square
Proceeds will go to Northfield Fire and Rescue. Noon to midnight.

• Arts and Crafts Fair
9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Admission is free. Admission is free. Northfield Ice Arena, Highway 3 South, behind Edina Realty. Open to all artists and crafters. 

• Northfield Arts Guild Riverfront Fine Art Festival
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Over 60 artists will be showing their wares.

• Car Show
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Riverside Park on Highway 3. Admission $2, plus button. Kids 15 and under get in free with a paid adult. Sponsored by Sundowners Car Club.

• Jesse James Bike Tour 
Start times will vary by route: There are  five routes (100, 60, 45, 30 and 10 miles), each featuring aid stations and refreshments. All bicyclists will begin at Northfield Middle School (2200 Division St. South).

Participants can register online. Same-day registration is also available (cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted). All proceeds from the ride benefit community projects including the Mill Towns Trail and Northfield’s Safe Routes to School program.

• P.R.C.A. Professional Rodeo
Saturday 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Rodeo Arena, Highway 3 South.
Tickets for general admission can be purchased in advance at Econo Foods. General admission is $12 for adults and $8 for children aged four to 12. Kids under three get in free.

• Sneaky Pete’s Garden Tractor Pull
 
6 to 9:30 p.m. on Division Street. Registration is at 4:30 p.m. Off Lawn $10. Other $15. This is a button event. 

• Soap Box Derby
Race begins at 9:30 a.m. at Third Street and Plum (by St. John’s Church).

• Vintage Base Ball and the Northfield Silver Stars
The vintage base ball Silver Stars will play the St. Croix Base Ball Club on the Saturday of the festival at 1 p.m. at the Old Memorial Park (by the city swimming pool) on Seventh Street East.

• Lions Western Style Steak Fry
5 to 8 p.m. at the Jesse James Arena, Highway 3 South. Sponsored by the Northfield Cannon Valley Lions.  

• Vaudevesque
4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Arts Guild Theater, 411 West 3rd Street. All tickets are $10 and are available at the Arts Guild office, online at www.northfieldartsguild.org, by phone at (507) 645-8877 or at the event.
