Education Association Taking Nominations for Northfield Teacher of the Year

The deadline for nominations is Oct. 11.

This week, the Northfield Education Association began its annual search for the district's top teacher.

The NEA is now accepting nominations for the 2013-14 Teacher of the Year. This marks the tenth year that the union has sponsored the program. Once selected, the local title-holder could also be in the running for Minnesota Teacher of the Year. Last year's honoree, Deb Bakke, was named a semifinalist for the state award.

Nominations can be submitted by students, other teachers, administrators, school staff, or community members. To qualify, nominees must be current faculty who have taught pre-kindergarten to 12th grade in the Northfield Public School System for at least five full years. Anyone who wishes to nominate a teacher, should contact Mark Thornton via email at Mark.Thornton@nfld.k12.mn.us, at Northfield High School (507-663-0630), or at home (507-663-1337).
