Film-maker, Carleton Senior Honored by Princess Grace Foundation
Peter Franco, class of 2014, will travel to New York City in October to receive the award in person.

A Carleton student wasΒ recently awarded an undergraduate scholarship in film from a not-for-profit, the Princess Grace Foundation-USA.
Peter Franco, class of 2014, is one of 24Β emerging artists toΒ receive this prestigious award from the foundation, which wasΒ founded 30 years ago by Prince Rainier III of Monaco in honor of his wife, famed Hollywood star and princess, Grace Kelly.
According a release from the foundation,Β Franco is pursuing majors in Cinema and Media Studies. During his college career, he has produced a number ofΒ short films. Last fall, he traveled to Prague to study 16mm filmmaking. The result was theΒ short film, Vystrelovak (Pocket Knife).Β

However, the foundation chose to honor him for a moreΒ recent project, which has yet to be released.Β The film centers on his experiences as a gay athlete. The film will come out in 2014.Β
