MnDOT Has Three Rice County Road Projects This Year

The Minnesota Department of Transportation on Thursday released its 2012 construction plan for Minnesota roads.

Three projects are slated for Rice County, though none are close to Northfield.

Hwy 19
Location: Lonsdale to I-35 
Description: Resurface 7 miles of road 
Total Cost: $2,186,114 
Date: May 2012 
Impact: Daily lane closures with flaggers 

I-35
Location: Rice CR 9 to Heath Creek Rest Area 
Description: Complete preventive pavement maintenance on 6 miles of road 
Total Cost: $2,819,326 
Date: Aug-Sept 2012 
Impact: Long-term lane closures

I-35
Location: Various locations in Rice and Steele counties 
Description: Install Intelligent Transportation System devices 
Total Cost: $823,530 2012
Cost: $325,000 
Date: Aug 2011-June 2012 
Impact: Minimal
