Northfield's Winter Parking Ban Now in Effect
The ban will be in effect through March 15.

The City of Northfield's winter parking ban went back into effect Nov. 15, and will remain in effect until March 15, 2014.
According to the city's website, even if there is no snow accumulation, the ban is still in effect. Details of the city's ordinance are below:
- There is no parking on city streets, including downtown, from 2-6 a.m. from Nov. 15 through March 15.
- Vehicles in violation will be ticketed and may be towed.
- The fine for each ticket is $50 or $70 if not paid within 10 days.
- After receiving five consecutive parking violations, a vehicle will be towed under MN § 169.041 sub 3.
Further, during a snow emergency vehicles parked on city streets will be issued a ticket for interfering with snow removal. The public services director declares a snow emergency after a significant snowfall. The fine for this is $75 or $95 if not paid within 10 days. Vehicles may also be towed, and the towing company charges a towing charge plus a daily storage fee, which the vehicle owner is responsible for.
In cases of emergency, call the Snowplowing Emergency Hotline at 507-645-3080.
