'Something Extraordinary:' Bridge Chamber Music Fest Begins

The Parker Quartet will perform pieces by Antonin Dvorak, Bela Bartok, and Mozart for the first act of the festival, which is Tuesday night.

The first night of theΒ Bridge Chamber MusicΒ Festival will bring a performance by the Parker Quartet, a young ensemble once described as "something extraordinary" byΒ The New York Times.Β The string quartet formed inΒ 2002. Since then, the group has one many accolades, includingΒ the prestigious biennial Cleveland Quartet Award for the 2009-2011 seasons (described by Pioneer Press reviewerΒ Rob Hubbard as "the Nobel Prize for string quartets") and a Grammy as well.Β 

The quartet also has ample ties to the Twin Cities area,Β serving as Quartet-in-Residence with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the first-ever Artists-in-Residence with Minnesota Public Radio for the 2009-2010 season.Β 

Tuesday night, they will take on Northfield with a performance of pieces byΒ Antonin Dvorak, Bela Bartok, and Mozart atΒ Urness Recital Hall. Tickets to festival concerts are only $5. They are available at the door. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.
