The school year is quickly approaching and Northfield's many institutions of learning are hiring, but not all of them involve traditional class instruction. Here are a few jobs that are open to job seekers who have skills not typically associated with academia:
• Nursing Laboratory Facilitator at St. Olaf College, part-time
The Laboratory Facilitator will assist nursing faculty member to mentor and facilitate the learning of students in the nursing laboratory: report to the faculty member who will design and oversee all laboratory experiences, facilitate weekly laboratory practice sessions, conduct periodic student competency testing, provide input to the nursing faculty member for the evaluation of students and assist faculty with simulation throughout the academic year.
• Chemical Hygiene Officer/Radiation Safety Officer at Carleton College, Part-time
This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring campus environmental and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and to ensure a safe workplace. Areas of responsibility include hazardous materials control, emergency preparedness, fire protection, radiological safety, accident prevention, air and water quality.
• Supervisory Education Assistant at Northfield High, part-time
Building Greeter at the High School beginning 9/3/2013 through 6/6/2014 for 5 hours/day. Requires good organizational skills and must enjoy working with people. The supervisory position will be responsible for the front entry way of the high school to screen visitors, provide visitor badges and direct visitors to the appropriate area.
