UPDATED: Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Train

Rice County Sgt. Jeff Mullenmeister told Patch that the person was not in a vehicle but declined to share further detail.

A man is dead after being hit by a train late Sunday night in downtown Dundas.

A coroner was called to the scene shortly after midnight where the train, operated by Canadian Pacific Railway, remained stopped, blocking intersections from Hester Street to West Avenue/County Road 1. The train has since left and the intersections have reopened.

Rice County Sgt. Jeff Mullenmeister told Patch that the person was not in a vehicle but declined to share further detail. The investigating into who the man is and why he was on the tracks is ongoing. No one has been arrested in connection with the death, according to Mullenmeister.

Also on the scene were Northfield Police, Northfield Fire & Rescue, Dundas Police and the Minnesota State Patrol.
