Weekend Planner: Chamber Music, An Album-Release Party and a Benefit for Bruce
No need to brave the crowds at the state fair this weekend: Northfield is hopping this weekend, with music, motorcycle runs and more.

Friday
Concert for Arlo Cristofaro's Debut Album, "The Great Glass Jar"Hear songs fromΒ the new album by localΒ Arlo Cristofaro,Β released on Aug. 21, live at theΒ Northfield Arts Guild, 304 Division Street.Β Cristofaro will be joined byΒ special guests Jonathan Young and Ian Iverson. The show begins atΒ 7 p.m. Admission is free. Fans will be able to buyΒ copies of the CD at the concert forΒ $10 each.Β
Laura Caviani
The Bridge Chamber Music Festival continues with a concert by Laura Caviani, a well-known jazz pianist. The concert, entitledΒ βFrom Bach to Bop,β playfully blurs the boundaries betweenΒ βClassicalβ music and jazz.Β The show begins atΒ 7:30 p.m. atΒ Carleton College Concert Hall.
Craig Wasner and Maren Brogger
The father-daughter duo will play theΒ Tavern Lounge atΒ 8 p.m. Expect covers of classic rock tunes, blues and country artists, andΒ singer-songwriters like James Taylor.
Burning Chrome
The St. Paul-based band will be playing theΒ Contented Cow atΒ 9 p.m. The trio is aggressively analogue according to their Facebook page, with "no digital anything," and an ample appreciation forΒ Wilco, Luna, Black Keys, Neil Young, Phish,The Kills, and theΒ Pixies.
Saturday
Yoga in Way ParkThis is the second of six free yoga lessons in Way Park, thanks to aΒ Healthy Activities Grant from Allina Health Partners. InstructorΒ Melissa Sharpe will lead Saturday'sΒ class, which starts atΒ 10 a.m.Β Yogis are advised to bring their own mat and gear, if possible, though there will be some basic materials available for first-timers.Β Free childcare will also be provided.
Riverwalk Market FairΒ
The art fair/farmer's market runs fromΒ 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Browse fresh, local and organic farm produce, while listening to this week's featuredΒ performer,Β singer/songwriter Barb Piper. There will also be rain barrel painting for kids, hosted by the Cannon Valley Watershed Partnership.
Bruce Jensen Benefit ConcertΒ
Stop by theΒ Contented Cow to show support for three-time cancer survivor, local musician and Patch BloggerΒ Bruce Jensen. Jensen recently had a tumor removed from the inside of his mouth. Saturday, six bands will play to raise money to defray the cost of his treatment. The benefit runs fromΒ 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The Twin CitiesΒ jazz quintet will play theΒ HideAway atΒ 7 p.m.
This 160-mile bike run doubles as aΒ benefit for 11-year-old Chayton Beseke, who is locked in a battleΒ with brain cancer. The rideΒ will begin at Castle Rock and Roll Bar & Grill (27988 Chipendale Avenue), where there will also be a live auction and door prizes.Β Registration isΒ $50 per person, an amount thatΒ includes a complimentaryΒ T-shirt and three meals.
