Winona State University Implements Campuswide Quarantine

WINONA, MN — Winona State University announced Tuesday that it is implementing a 14-day, campuswide quarantine — effective immediately — to slow the spread of the coronavirus. There have been 97 confirmed cases of the coronavirus on campus, according to school officials.

The university campus is now closed to the public.

All nonessential activities across campus will be limited through Sept. 22. Students, faculty and staff can still access campus buildings using their WSU ID cards during open hours.

"The self-imposed quarantine will reduce the number of people physically present on campus for the next two weeks," the university said in a statement. "Courses with face-to-face instruction will either shift entirely online or, if absolutely necessary, require increased precautions in order to continue in-person instruction."

The campus COVID-19 safety level is currently at "yellow," which means face coverings and daily screenings are required for all students, employees and visitors.

Employees who do not need to be on campus will work remotely during the quarantine.
