Winter Weather To Linger A Little Longer In Northfield

NORTHFIELD, MN — The spring equinox was more than a week ago, but winter does not seem to have gotten the memo.

Northfield woke up Wednesday to a fresh sheet of snow and ice, and the winter weather is set to stick around until Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The new ice and snow is likely to turn into a slushy mess Thursday, with a high of 38 degrees in the National Weather Service's forecast.

Temperatures could climb into the mid-40s Friday and reach almost 50 degrees Saturday and Sunday, the NWS said. There is a slight chance of rain and snow Friday night into Saturday morning, though.

Forecasts also show about a 20 percent chance of rain and snow Sunday night into Monday morning and on Tuesday.

Thursday-A slight chance of snow and freezing drizzle before 7 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 10 percent.

Thursday night-Mostly clear, with a low around 21.

Friday-Sunny, with a high near 45.

Friday night-A slight chance of rain between 8-10 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Saturday-A slight chance of rain and snow before 11 a.m., then a slight chance of rain between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 49. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Saturday night-Mostly clear, with a low around 29.

Sunday-Mostly sunny, with a high near 50. 20 percent chance of rain after 2 p.m.

Sunday night-A slight chance of rain, mixing with snow after 1 a.m., then gradually ending. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Monday-Mostly sunny, with a high near 53.
