• MnDOT awarded $17.9 million in federal grants for rural bus replacement, facility upgrades (hometownsource.com) — Pipestone is set to get a new transit facility as part of a $17.9 million federal grant to MnDOT, aimed at upgrading rural bus fleets and infrastructure. United Community Action Partnership’s Community Transit Program will build facilities in Pipestone and Slayton for bus storage, maintenance, and offices, helping modernize service and support cleaner propane-powered vehicles for local riders.

• Mary Steenstra (pipestonestar.com) — Pipestone and Holland residents are mourning 93-year-old Mary Steenstra, who died Dec. 8 at Pipestone County Hospice House after a life of service to local churches, shops, and the hospital gift shop. Her funeral was held Dec. 15 in Holland, and she is remembered by four children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends.
