Bloomington Man Pleads Guilty To Role In 2 2020 Armed Robberies

A Columbia Heights man was sentenced to 6 years in jail after pleading guilty to taking part in one of the crimes, which was in Bloomington.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A Bloomington man pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to his role in two June 2020 Twin Cities area armed robberies, one in which court documents indicate he shot a store owner, U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger announced.

Meanwhile, a Columbia Heights man, who was a co-defendant in the case, was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to his role in one of the armed robberies.

Devon Dwayne Reginal Glover, 22, pleaded guilty to one count of discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence and one count of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, authorities said.

Marshawn Michael Davison, 21, pleaded guilty to one count of Hobbs Act robbery and was sentenced by Judge John Tunheim to 72 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

According to court records, on June 16, 2020, Glover and Davison committed an armed robbery at a Bloomington restaurant, which the Star Tribune reported was Penn Lake Roast Beef.

During the robbery, Glover shot the restaurant owner with a pistol. Then, both Glover and Davison took money from the cash register, according to court records.

Glover reportedly told police that it appeared the store owner was going for his waistband. Glover said he drew his gun, but that it went off inadvertently, according to the Star Tribune.

The Star Tribune reported that the store owner, 57-year-old Kevin Tran, was shot in the chest and hand. He was treated for serious injuries at a local hospital, but later recovered and returned to work at the restaurant.

On June 23, 2020, according to court documents, Glover committed a second armed robbery at a liquor store in St. Paul, which the Star Tribune reported was McCafferty Fine Wine and Spirits.

In that robbery, Glover pointed a gun at an employee and stole cash from the register, according to court documents.

The Star Tribune reported that Glover and Davison were known to law enforcement as being members of the street gang EBK/PBK, and that both had a criminal history.

According to the newspaper, Glover has been convicted of assault with a dangerous weapon domestic assault, theft and drug possession, and he was on probation at the time of the armed robberies.

Davison was convicted of aiding and abetting a robbery in Ramsey County in 2019. His probation was scheduled to run until January of 2023, the Star Tribune reported.
