GoFundMe To Pay For Funeral Of Student Killed At Richfield School

RICHFIELD, MN — A GoFundMe has been started to help pay for the funeral of Jahmari Rice, the student who was shot and killed Tuesday outside South Education Center in Richfield.
The fundraiser was set up by LaTanya Conner on behalf of Rice's family. It will cover travel expenses for his siblings in addition to covering his funeral costs.
Rice loved his family, friends and sports, and he was a "sweet, funny, and an overall kind hearted person," Conner wrote.

"Sadly Jahmari's life was taken while at school by gun violence,"she said. "Jahmari leaves a host of loved ones mourning his untimely passing so your prayers are needed as well."
So far, over $22,000 has been raised for Rice's family.

Rice's funeral will take place on Wednesday at Hope Presbyterian Church at 7132 S. Portland Av. in Richfield, according to a report by The Minneapolis Star Tribune. The viewing will be 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and the service will begin at 1. p.m., the report said.
Alfredo R. Solis, 19, and Fernando Valdez-Alvarez, 18, each face three counts of second-degree murder, with intent in connection with the shooting that killed Rice. Bail was set at $1 million for both of them.

A second victim in the shooting was transported to HCMC and remains in critical condition, and a third victim was treated and released at the scene.
