Local Corn at the Farmers Market, Glaciers, and Road Construction

Three things to know about Richfield today.

1) Historic Glaciers

The Richfield Historic Society is presenting round two of its "How Glaciers Made Minnesota" program at Minneapolis' Minnehaha Falls on Sunday at 1 p.m. The group previously presented the event in April. Look out for interactive demos that give participants a chance to build their own glacier.

2) Highway 62 Closes Tonight

If you thought Monday's road closures were irritating, keep an eye out for detours on Friday night. That's when MnDOT is planning to close Hwy 62 in order to demolish the Penn Ave Bridge. Starting at 10 p.m., westbound Hwy 62 traffic will be detoured to I-494 and to Hwy 100, and eastbound Hwy 62 traffic will be rerouted to I-494 and to I-35W. You'll still be able to get to Edina's Fairview hospital using eastbound Hwy 62, exiting at France Avenue, though. Everything will reopen by 5 p.m. on Monday.

3) Farmers Market

Local corn has finally arrived at the Richfield Farmers Market, according to its Facebook page! Get some while it's fresh out of the patch—the sooner you eat it, the sweeter it is.
