No More DeJoy at DeUSPS
All I want for Christmas is a DeJoy-free Post Office so we can all escape from this NixieNeverland his policies have created for consumers.
Forget about asking for universal love and world peace this holiday season. All I really want is Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to get booted over to DeUnemployment line. If that sounds a little too harsh for your Hallmark movie sensibilities, dear readers, let me remind you just how badly your sugary seasonal expectations have clouded common sense.
Dreams of love and peace cannot be realized without understanding…and understanding cannot exist without good communication.
And basic everyday communication cannot be achieved if reliable means of communication — like the ones provided by the Post Office — are jeopardized by incompetence and mismanagement.

With DeJoy in charge of the USPS, operations have not only been unnecessarily hampered, they’ve also inevitably worsened under his watch.
Needless to say, before Trump appointed DeJoy to run the Post Office, mail service was not perfect. But it wasn’t THAT bad, either. Of course the GOP PR machine and FOX NOOZ, under POTUS 45’s direction, made sure America kept hearing how “terrible” USPS was. That way, DeJoy and his shady business dealing with the USPS that took place when he was CEO of New Breed Logistics wouldn’t seem like such a glaring conflict of interest. That way, his actions would pale in comparison to that other USPS Inspector General who allegedly had questionable business dealings with New Breed Logistics.

But whatever happened to the 2001 audit that concluded taxpayers could have saved upwards of $53 million if USPS hadn’t given New Breed Logistics noncompetitive contracts of over $300 million? It almost evaporated because Trump liked DeJoy so much. Why wouldn’t he?
DeJoy(along with his wife) had a long history of fundraising for the Republican Party. He also had been a major donor to Trump’s election campaign. What better way to reward a loyal Republican businessman than to promote him to a governmental agency that needed some Republican-style “financial rescue.” More often than not, however, such “rescue” involves screwing up, then crowing about what a great job you’ve done.
In this case, DeJoy’s cost-cutting measures meant stopping additional or late trips to deliver mail and eliminating overtime. His response to lower and lower mail volume? Removing blue mail boxes and decommissioning vast numbers of speedy mail- sorting machines. So mail delivery began getting delayed, more and more. What’s worse, he did these things during the 2020 Presidential election year, raising suspicions that he was deliberately trying to interfere with mail-in voting at Trump’s request.
After a little Congressional oversight and public outcry, though, DeJoy shifted gears. His plans were put on hold until after the election. But in October, USPS reversed all of his changes.
Then in 2021, he devised a new plan called “Delivering for America.” This meant screwing USPS employees AND customers alike. His plan involved making mail delivery slower, reducing post office hours, and, of course, raising prices.
At the time he introduced his plan, however, the USPS would have been required to pre-pay retiree health care costs. But thanks to DeJoy’s appeals, Congress officially relieved USPS from that responsibility with its Postal Service Reform Act of 2022.
What an ingenuous way to cut costs: get out of paying for something your retired workers want and need. Heckuva job, DeJoy!
Oh, and remember that other plan for USPS to order 83% of electric-powered delivery vehicles through 2028, then 100% after that? NOT what DeJoy initially wanted at all. He initially wanted to buy 90% gas-powered delivery vehicles for the USPS in 2022. Only after environmentalists opposed him with angry rhetoric and lawsuits, and only after the Postal Service Reform Act of 2022 gifted him with additional federal funding, did he change his plans… Actually, he changed his plans twice before ultimately including electric delivery vehicles that were environmentally sound.
So he shouldn’t get credit for something he never wanted in the first place.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Business and Government are 2 different things. Sometimes Government can do things more easily and more efficiently than Business can. Why? Because Government is more concerned with the commonweal than with profits. Government can do things better than Businesses can because its top priority lies with its citizenry, not with cutting costs. In other words, certain things cannot be measured by mere price alone. Life isn’t always about prices and cost ratios, you know.
But DeJoy wants to keep acting like an arrogant businessman who operates the post office like a grocery store. So let’s fire him the way they do in the business world. Let’s fire him before he can collect his undeserved pension, perks, and benefits.
Let’s give him his walking papers and tell him not to let the door hit him in the *** on his way out. Bye, bye, Loser.
