Plymouth Teen Wins $100K Scholarship In MN Kids Vaccine Campaign

Minnesota kids aged 12-17 will get $200 after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. They can also enter to win one of the remaining scholarships.

PLYMOUTH, MN — Kaitlyn Knutson of Plymouth is the first winner of the $100,000 Minnesota college scholarship drawing, which is part of the state's "Kids Deserve a Shot" COVID-19 vaccine campaign.

Knutson, 16, decided to get vaccinated to stay safe while being able to see her friends and family. She's also able to keep playing hockey.

“I chose to get vaccinated because it allows me to be with my friends and family without having to really worry about COVID as much as before," Knutson said in a news release.

"It also allows me to get to play the sport I love, hockey, while being safe. This $100,000 scholarship means so much to me because it opens up so many more opportunities for myself when picking a college and major."
