Richfield’s July 4 Fireworks 2022 Canceled
Richfield's traditional Independence Day events may be canceled, but there are several other ways you can celebrate Independence Day.
RICHFIELD, MN — The city of Richfield's traditional "Red White & Blue Days" celebration will not be held this year. But it's not because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the rising costs caused by spiking inflation.
In its place, this July will be the "Lil Sparkler" event, which will feature games, music, a movie in the park, plus a laser show, and more.
"The Richfield Red White & Blue Days committee has made the decision to scale back events for 2022," the committee wrote on Facebook.

"We understand that our community dearly misses our traditional 4th of July celebration, as does the committee. The Covid pandemic has made a tremendous impact on how our event can operate, most notably rising costs due to inflation; some of our event costs have doubled in price, making events for this year nearly impossible. We hope to return to a more traditional event in 2023 and in that time, reenvision the event and rethink how to make it better for the future."
The "Lil Sparkler" celebration will kick off on July 1 with a medallion hunt at Veteran's Park near the band shell.
