- On Wednesday in Rochester, police discovered a vehicle submerged in a retention pond containing a body believed to be that of a missing Rochester woman, Jodi Boeckermann, who disappeared in November 2021. Responding to a call about a visible bumper in the pond, officers and a dive team retrieved the Pontiac Grand Am and found the body along with Boeckermann's ID and wallet. While the police have not officially confirmed the identity, further examination will be conducted, and although foul play is not currently suspected, the vehicle seems to have been in the pond for a significant duration. - Although it has not been completely confirmed as of yet, more plans and conversations are being had involving Popeyes Chicken locations coming to Rochester later in 2023. Conversations about the fast food chain coming to the city began way back in January 2021 but it wasn't until June 2022 the chain responded speaking on two potential locations coming in north and south Rochester. A permit has been filed for a location on Villa Road but nothing yet has been put into action about the prospective southwest site in Bakers Square. As of now residents of Rochester can enjoy spicy chicken at the local restaurants present in the city and more updates are to come about the potential arrival of Popeyes. (Rochester Post Bulletin)
- Rochester has to wait a bit longer for the newest 24-hour taco shop as Giliberto's Mexican Taco Shop is now expected to open in September rather than June. Giliberto's claims to be Minnesota's most authentic Mexican taco shop with its expansive menu, but the community especially is excited to be able to soon get a taco any hour of the day. The taco shop will be opening in northwest Rochester by Highway 52 on Bandel Road. Hopefully, this will be the last construction delay and Giliberto's will be serving the public in the next few months. (KROC-AM)
