A severe band of thunderstorms rolled through the Twin Cities early this morning (Friday), sparking scattered electric power outages across the metro including parts of Roseville.Â
In a statement, Xcel Energy said storm damage to its electric system caused power outages for about 130,000 customers. Initially,X cel's outage map showed about  3,000 customers without electricity.Â
As of 10:40 a.m., Xcel was reporting about 2,600 Roseville customers without power.
Xcel said that storm damage resulted in a number of downed poles and power lines.Â
"We are currently assessing the damages and no restoration time is yet available," Xcel said earlier this morning. Â "Additional crews from the North and South Dakota and other utilities have been coordinated to assist with restoration efforts."
Meanwhile, utility officials are advising people to stay away from downed power lines and" always assume a downed wire is energized and therefore dangerous."
