ST. PAUL, MN β€” A juvenile suspect is in custody after admitting to posting threats on social media targeting Saint Paul Public Schools, police said.

The suspect said they did not have the means or desire to carry out the threat. However, threats spread quickly over TikTok and Snapchat.

"There is no ongoing threat at this time, but we don't know if this is the only person sharing these disturbing messages," police said Thursday.

"We will continue to work with our law enforcement and school partners to ensure safety at all our schools. Thank you to all those who said something when they saw these posts."

The arrest took place after St. Paul Public Schools alerted parents on Wednesday that "We have been made aware of nationwide rumors circulating within our school communities, alleging possible violence at schools throughout Minnesota and the Twin Cities."
