Ramsey County Board Proclaims October 29 As Deputy Steve Eddicus Day

The board of commissioners has proclaimed Oct. 29, 2021 as Deputy Steve Eddicus Day.

On March 17, 2021, Deputy Dallas Edeburn responded to assist officers of the Mounds View Police Department in pursuit of a stolen vehicle. The suspect fled in the stolen vehicle and struck Deputy Edeburn’s squad car. Deputy Steve Eddicus, also responding to the pursuit, found Deputy Edeburn incapacitated from multiple injuries with his squad vehicle on fire, and with the assistance of Officer Donald Kostohryz of the New Brighton Police Department, extracted Deputy Edeburn from his vehicle and dragged him to safety moments before the vehicle became engulfed.

Deputy Eddicus displayed extraordinary bravery and composure in rendering aid to Deputy Edeburn in a moment of mortal peril.
