On March 17, 2021, Deputy Dallas Edeburn responded to assist officers of the Mounds View Police Department in pursuit of a stolen vehicle. The suspect fled in the stolen vehicle and struck Deputy Edeburn’s squad car. Deputy Steve Eddicus, also responding to the pursuit, found Deputy Edeburn incapacitated from multiple injuries with his squad vehicle on fire, and with the assistance of Officer Donald Kostohryz of the New Brighton Police Department, extracted Deputy Edeburn from his vehicle and dragged him to safety moments before the vehicle became engulfed.
