St. Paul Parents Arrested In Toddler's Christmas Day Death

St. Paul police have arrested two parents on suspicion of second-degree manslaughter following the death of their 1.5-year-old child.

ST. PAUL, MN — St. Paul police have arrested two parents on suspicion of second-degree manslaughter following the death of their 1.5-year-old child on Christmas Day.

Officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of 5th Street East shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, where they found the child unresponsive. Emergency responders transported the toddler to Regions Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Authorities identified the parents as Jeffrey Weidell, 38, and Jasmine Ryan, 31. Preliminary information suggests that narcotics may have played a role in the child's death, police said.
