St. Paul Police Involved In Deadly Shooting In Rural MN

The St. Paul Police Department said that Thursday morning's shooting in Belle Plaine was connected to a homicide in Lowertown.

BELLE PLAINE, MN — St. Paul police officers say they were involved in a fatal shooting Thursday morning in the small town of Belle Plaine, located an hour southwest of the capital city.

No officers were injured in the shooting, which happened just after 6:30 a.m. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was tapped to investigate.

The incident is related to Wednesday evening's homicide in Lowertown, police said.

Lowertown Shooting

At 5:18 p.m. Wednesday, St. Paul police officers were called to the 200 block of Kellogg Boulevard East for reports that someone was shot.

Officers found a woman lying in an alley suffering from apparent gunshot injuries. Medics responded and pronounced the woman deceased.

Officers secured the area and began to look for witnesses, but it was determined that the suspect fled the area in a car.

The shooting marked the nineteenth homicide of 2024 in St. Paul.
