Canoers Rescue Dog Trapped In Mud Along Minnesota River

CARVER COUNTY, MN — A dog is home safe after canoers and firefighters worked together to free the animal, who was trapped in mud along the bank of the Minnesota River, according to reports.

A canoer called emergency personnel after finding the dog and realizing the animal was too weak to escape, the Carver County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

“This dog had been missing for a day and was so tired after being stuck in the mud all night,” the post said.

Carver firefighters worked with canoers using paddles to dig out the dog, a St. Bernard named Ed from an area farm, KMSP reported.

The dog was reunited with his owner, according to the sheriff’s office. KMSP reported he has since enjoyed a bath and plenty of rest.
