MINNEAPOLIS, MN —A group of local restaurant-industry veterans announced on Monday details about Minneapolis' latest food hall: Eat Street Crossing.

The hall is scheduled to open late this summer in the Old Arizona Studios building, 2821 Nicollet Ave. South, on a stretch referred to as Eat Street because of its history of wildly diverse restaurants.

"My understanding is the culinary scene in Minneapolis really started on Eat Street," Gabriella Grant-Spangler, one of the food hall's co-owners told Eater Twin Cities. "There's such a huge history of diverse food, all these institutions that started there. A lot of them are still there, which is amazing, and a huge testament to what the businesses there have created."

The 15,000-square-foot space is expected to have indoor and outdoor seating areas, an event space and a liquor store. Christian Dean Architecture is renovating the space, Eater Twin Cities reported.

According to Bring Me The News.com, the ownership team behind the new food hall includes: Grant-Spangler and Ben Spangler, co-owners of Bebe Zito, 704 W 22nd St., and John Ng and Lona Goh, co-owners of Zen Box Izakaya, 602 S Washington Ave. Beverage director Trish Gavin has worked at such restaurants as Khâluna, Lat14, and Lemongrass.

"We are creative culinary friends who came together to dream up something special that reflects the beautiful vibrancy of this neighborhood we all love," the ownership group said in a statement on social media.

The group has said the food hall will feature six distinct food concepts under one roof, though not all have been revealed, according to Bring Me The News.com.

According to Eater Twin Cities, the hall is expected to feature burgers, fried chicken dishes and ice cream from Bebe Zito. The restaurant also is believed to be operating another one of the stalls, perhaps one related to Grant-Spangler's Brazilian heritage.

Bubble tea vendor Chatime also is expected to be part of the food hall.

Meanwhile, Eat Street Crossing is expected to feature a full bar with a "wine wall," in addition to creative cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

Several food halls have proven popular in the Twin Cities in recent years, according to Bring Me The News.com, with Minneapolis already featuring The Market at Malcolm Yards, 501 30th Ave. SE and Graze Provisions + Libations, 520 N 4th St. Dayton's Market, 700 Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis, is scheduled to open soon.
